Lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations 1998 (LOLER) Introduction These regulations came into force on the 5th December 1998 to implement the lifting provisions of the amending directive to the use of work equipment directive (AUWED, 95/63/ec), as did the provision and use of work equipment regulations 1998 (PUWER 98). An approved code of practice (ACOP) and guidance document has been produced to assist employers and others to comply with these regulations.
